The trail starts next to the Park Rangers Office in Pampa Linda, same as the trail heading towards Otto Meiling Hut. After walking 300 mts. there is a sign and detour right, the trail reaches the Alerce river, borders along a short distance and then there is a hanging bridge to cross it.
The trail is well marked, the first part is very steep, roughly 2 km., once up on the flat it comes to a big open marshy area. Trail goes around a little and then crosses heading north. Back in the lenga forest continue on to Ilón Lagoon.
From the dome campground, close to the beach, the trail heads of left around the lagoon towards the Mirada del Doctor, another 4 km.
From the Ilón lagoon, you can return to Pampa Linda by the same trail or connect with Agostino Rocca Hut by the “Paso La Marca”. You can also head north towards the Cretón lagoon which is part of the “Travesía de las 5 lagunas” (5 lagoons traverse) all the way to Colonia Suiza.
